Welcome to the
presentation of the Federal Republic of Germany!
In 2012, 12 German companies will join the German pavilion to present their
products during the 87th PMA International Convention and Trade Show in Las
Vegas.
In the past few years the change from film-based to digital image-capturing
shaped the German Imaging & Photo industry. The technology advances forced
many manufacturers to change processes, structures and their way of doing
business. Through innovative niche products, however, traditional German
manufacturers achieved to secure leading market positions in many areas, such
as optic design and optics for analogue and digital film productions.

In the past few years the change from film-based to digital image-capturing
shaped the German Imaging & Photo industry. The technology advances forced
many manufacturers to change processes, structures and their way of doing
business. Through innovative niche products, however, traditional German
manufacturers achieved to secure leading market positions in many areas, such
as optic design and optics for analogue and digital film productions.
The business activities of the German manufacturers of imaging & photo
products are extraordinarily export-oriented. Depending on the segment up to
80% of the total turnover is achieved abroad, i.e. almost 1 billion US $ in
value p.a. Beside the European market, the USA is one of the most important
export destinations for German Imaging & Photographic products.
